ISMLLW UK Group Meeting

I’ve just come back from Colchester where I attended a meeting of the UK Group of the International Society of Military Law and the Law of War, hosted by the University of Essex. These meetings traditionally feature one speaker addressing a matter of international law and a second speaker discussing a question of domestic law. On this occasion, Professor Mike Schmitt (Durham) talked about the key sticking points of the HPCR Manual on International Law Applicable to Air and Missile Warfare, giving a fascinating insight into the drafting process, while Lt Col Alasdair Morrison (Army Legal Services) examined the notion of command responsibility in English law.
